Open Now: 2020 New Zealand Champions event

The 2020 League of Legends New Zealand Champions event is a 96 team tournament with a NZ$100,000 prize pool hosted by NZESPORTS. Registration is free, and is open to New Zealand players on nzesports.com until 23:59 NZDT on Tuesday 12th November 2019.

Event Stages

The competition will be played across three main stages:

  • Stage 1 (20 Nov 2019 – 11 Dec 2019) consists of twelve groups of eight teams competing in a round robin, with the top 2 teams of each group advancing to Stage 2.
  • Stage 2 (26 Apr 2020 – 10 May 2020) then involves four groups of six teams in a second round robin. The top two teams from each group in Stage 2 will advance to Stage 3.
  • Stage 3 will be the single elimination Champions Bracket (Quarterfinals - 24 May 2020, Semifinals - 30 May 2020, Grand Final - 31 May 2020), with the Grand Final played in a live stadium event.

Prize Pool

The prize pool for each team is shown below, with the listed amount to be distributed among the team members:

  • Champion: NZ$ 20,000
  • Runner-up: NZ$ 10,000
  • 3rd & 4th: NZ$ 5,000 per team
  • 5th to 8th: NZ$ 2,000 per team
  • 9th to 24th: NZ$ 1,000 per team
  • 25th to 96th: NZ$ 400 per team
  • Top 6 players with excellent academic performance: NZ$ 1,000 per player
  • Event MVP: NZ$ 2,000

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements laid out by NZESPORTS:

  • Age 13+
  • Right to live and work in NZ with legal residency document or working/study visa.
  • 5 players in a team, optional 2 substitutes.
  • Required to have a Level 30+ LoL account.
