On deck: EU and International Wildcard Playoffs

By Magus

More regional qualifiers for October's World Championship in Los Angeles are set to get underway. The next stop on the road to the finals is Cologne, Germany, where the EU Regionals and the International Wildcard Tournament will be played this week at gamescom. The competition in the EU summer split has been intensely close, and the standings gridlocked all season with nearly the entire table separated by two games or less. With this much parity and a hard fought split behind them, anything could happen when the six qualifying teams face off for the right to represent Europe at Worlds.

Also at stake is the International Wildcard: Five teams from Russia/CIS, Turkey, Oceania, Brazil and Spanish-speaking Latin America will fight for a single slot at Worlds and the chance to put their region on the map.

The EU Regionals and International Wildcard run from August 21-25. Stay tuned for more info! And don't forget -- go to lolesports.com for complete coverage and live streams of every game on the road to the World Championship.
