Are you a shot-caller? Or maybe you're better suited to support? The University Champion program is a platform for students, with a love of gaming, to develop important leadership skills IRL, no matter what their role.
We’re looking for 5-man teams of passionate students to join each University’s League of Legends Club, running events and lead projects for their respective unis. We’ll provide resources and training to support you in your endeavour from existing Uni leaders and Rioters, while helping you develop the skills you need to support your future career.
The program runs for a full academic year, at the end of which, if you deliver on the core responsibilities, you’ll receive a certificate to acknowledge your achievements.
Each uni’s leadership team is made up of:
Every good team needs a leader. As club president, it’s up to you to bring the team together, keep them on track and be accountable for the club’s overall player experience and success.
Your core understanding of leadership is that the last consideration you have to make is for yourself; you believe in "eating last" and chart your success by how your team grows and what you enable them to accomplish; the end of the road for you isn't about how much personal glory you've attained, it's how much you've impacted and aided those around you.
Your emails and calendars are sorted and color-coded to ensure that tasks aren't just completed, they're obliterated; you're thoroughly entrenched in every project your team handles, owning assigned projects and taking initiative to tackle team needs.
You understand that the sum is greater than the individual parts and everyone has a part to play. You don't just play well with others, you do your best work during the show; you're iterative, experimental, and open to feedback from your team and members with the ultimate goal of making the club and community better.
Details matter and make a huge difference; you pay as much attention to details when planning events and promotions, as you do when overseeing the execution of them to make sure that a quality experience is delivered to club members.
You communicate clearly and concisely whether in the hallway or via email, in-game chat or messenger pigeon. You understand that communication is a two way street and listening is a vital aspect of effective communication. You’re not just sending a message, but also making sure the message is well received with the intended sentiment.
Every university club needs a voice. It’s your job to create content that engages, grows and nurtures a thriving League of Legends community within your uni, as well as advocate the needs of the club to Riot and vice versa.
You are a geek when it comes to social media. You know which social media to use for what purpose and when to use specific features. Whether it’s Instagram stories, Facebook groups, Discord servers, Twitter feeds, or whatever the newest place members are.
You know the importance of listening to player's needs because you are a player too; you understand that every decision you make will impact players in different ways, so you are mindful about creating seamless, player-worthy experiences.

There’s no club without regular games of League. Whether it be a one day 1v1 tournament or a team-based multi week league (à la Rumble), it’s your job to organise and supervise any tournaments your club decides to run.
Your emails and calendars are sorted and color-coded to ensure that tasks aren't just completed, they're obliterated; you're thoroughly entrenched in every project your team handles, owning assigned projects and taking initiative to tackle team needs.
You're able to conduct a symphony of interdependent projects within an event while staying under tight deadlines without missing a note; you’re good at time management and able to manage multiple event features and ensure they are delivered on time and to a good standard.

Competition is key. To ensure your uni has the best chance possible in the annual Oceanic University Championship, it’s up to you to find, bring together and prep your best players.
Locking down schedules is your jam; you have a high planning aptitude and a neurotic attention to detail.
Determine what skills and attributes are needed to fill the gaps between what the team currently offers and what the team needs in their pursuit of victory.

There’s more to life than gaming. As Events Manager, you’re tasked with organising BBQs, catch-ups, esports screening parties, trivia or any other events that fall outside of the digital realm. Get creative!
